SIMPLICITY -TOKYO – | Nob Pagnotta
I was born and raised in Japan, and I work as a photographer, videographer, and simplist.
In daily life I introduce myself simply as someone who works in photography and video production,
but in truth I run a small one‑person company.
Of course, I have a corporate website for my production work,
but this project—Nob Pagnotta—is something different.
It is my side project as a photographic artist, a place where I step away from titles and roles and write simply as a person who loves images and quiet moments.
I never went to photography school, nor did I work as anyone’s assistant.
In my student days I played music, but nothing took off, and I became a typical misfit—someone who didn’t want a “normal job,” yet had no idea what to do.
Everything changed when a senior coworker took me to a Daido Moriyama exhibition.
The shock was so strong that I sold all my music gear on impulse, bought a Nikon D300, and began photographing the streets.
Time passed, and I was fortunate enough to incorporate my business and work in a more “professional” way. But when I looked back, I realized something important: I wasn’t taking any photos for myself. I was shooting for clients, but outside of work, not a single frame existed. Even after traveling abroad many times, my SSD was filled only with “work data.”
That was when I felt the need to stop and reset. And from that moment, SIMPLICITY -TOKYO- / Nob Pagnotta was born.
